REGISTRATION TIMETABLE

Registration is possible at two periods during the year:

1. Early Registration (*)
For those candidates who wish to complete admission formalities before the summer vacation
(by appointment from April to June).
(*) Strongly advised for foreign students so as to deal with immigration and administrative formalities.

2. Normal Registration
Held the last two weeks of September.
Classes start one week later (first week of October).

It is best to contact the school directly to obtain admission information. By doing so the applicant will receive, at the end of August, an entrance examination form. Those persons on our mailing list have priority and are tested first.

ENTRANCE EVALUATION

A three-part entrance evaluation is given to each applicant prior to admission and registration. This determines the student's admissibility and also which program he or she may enter. The evaluation takes into account the applicant's strong points as well as his weaknesses (which vary for different instruments).

The three areas evaluated are:

1. Theory
A short written test on intervals, scales and chords.
2. Instrumental audition
One prepared piece and sight-reading,.
3. Solfege/Ear training

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT OF FEES

Once accepted for registration you must provide:

1. Two recent photos
2. The total sum for the entire school year of tuition, pedagogic materiel and registration fee

For students who choose Early Registration (April to June) a 30% non-refundable down-payment is to be paid once the candidate has been accepted for admission. This insures that a guaranteed place for the in-coming school year is reserved.

Once registration has taken place, no reimbursement is possible. Each registered student receives a student card and a Certificate of Immatriculation.

Only by paying the totality of school fees can the registration process be validated, thus permitting the student access to classes. Furthermore, registration at the American School implies automatic and total acceptation of the conditions and school regulations as published in the brochure and website.

For those students who opt for payment by bank transfer, the totality of school fees must be credited to the appropriate accounts by the final registration date. We recommend that the student takes this into account by obtaining full details with the school secretariat.

The student's place will be held until the final registration day, thereafter the school reserves the right to cede any remaining place to those candidates who are on the waiting list. No reimbursement will be possible for those who lose their reserved place.
