Le\u00efla Olivesi<\/b>, recipient of the prestigious 2022 Django Reinhardt Award<\/b> from the Acad\u00e9mie du Jazz<\/b>\u2014honoring the best musician of the year\u2014began her career on stage and in the studio at just 13 years old<\/b> as part of the P\u2019tits Loups du Jazz<\/b> ensemble.<\/p>\n

Born in Moulin d\u2019And\u00e9<\/b>, Normandy<\/b>, to a Mauritanian father<\/b> and a Corsican mother<\/b>, Le\u00efla grew up in Paris<\/b>, immersed in a rich artistic and cosmopolitan environment influenced by the music of Astor Piazzolla<\/b>, Nina Simone<\/b>, Miles Davis<\/b>, and John Coltrane<\/b>.<\/p>\n

LE MONDE<\/b> described her as: \u201cA composer who writes for each tone and voice with precision, freeing them on stage. She stands in the lineage of great female bandleaders like <\/i>Mary Lou Williams<\/i><\/b>, <\/i>Carla Bley<\/i><\/b>, and <\/i>Maria Schneider<\/i><\/b>.\u201d<\/i><\/i><\/p>\n

Her sixth album, ASTRAL<\/b>, performed with an octet<\/b>, received widespread acclaim, earning titles such as CHOC Jazzmag<\/b>, INDISPENSABLE JazzNews<\/b>, and TOP JAZZ MEZZO<\/b>. Her previous album, LA SUITE ANDAMANE<\/b>, was awarded a Coup de Coeur<\/b> by the Acad\u00e9mie Charles Cros<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Le\u00efla has performed at numerous festivals<\/b> in France and internationally, collaborating with renowned artists including David Binney<\/b>, Jean-Charles Richard<\/b>, Manu Codjia<\/b>, Emile Parisien<\/b>, Magic Malik<\/b>, Rick Margitza<\/b>, Glenn Ferris<\/b>, St\u00e9phane Belmondo<\/b>, Anne Paceo<\/b>, and John Betsch<\/b>. She has also worked with groups like the African Salsa Orchestra<\/b> and Metiswing<\/b>.<\/p>\n

As a commissioned composer<\/b>, her works for large ensembles include:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u201cRhapsody in Black\u201d<\/b> for the Choeur Philharmonique International<\/b>.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u201cAround the World in 80 Moons\u201d<\/b> for the Interdepartmental Choir of Hauts-de-Seine<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Le\u00efla has also scored film soundtracks<\/b> and collaborated with vocalists like Jeanne Added<\/b>, Elisabeth Kontomanou<\/b>, and Ellinoa<\/b>.<\/p>\n
