{"id":7414,"date":"2017-03-28T21:01:19","date_gmt":"2017-03-28T19:01:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.asmm.fr\/?post_type=our_team&#038;p=7414\/"},"modified":"2025-01-24T12:31:20","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T11:31:20","slug":"logan-richardson","status":"publish","type":"team","link":"https:\/\/www.asmm.fr\/en\/our_team\/logan-richardson\/","title":{"rendered":"Logan Richardson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/loganrichardson.global\/\">http:\/\/loganrichardson.global\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0 \u00a0Born and, raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Logan Richardson was mentored by some of the finest figures in the history of improvised music, including <strong>Jay McShann<\/strong>, <strong>Claude &#8220;Fiddler&#8221; Williams<\/strong>, and <strong>Queen Bey<\/strong>, in addition to having artists such as <strong>Max Roach<\/strong>, <strong>Shirley Scott<\/strong>, <strong>Jimmy Heath<\/strong>, <strong>Clark Terry<\/strong>, <strong>Kenny Burrell<\/strong>, <strong>Marcus Belgrave<\/strong>, <strong>Richard Davis<\/strong> as artists in residence between the ages of 15 to 19 years old. At 19 years old he moved to Boston, Massachusetts to study at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berklee.edu\/\"><strong>Berklee College of Music<\/strong><\/a>, and after one year Logan left Boston to move to New York to complete his studies at The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newschool.edu\/jazz\/apply\/\">New School University<\/a> on a <strong>full scholarship<\/strong>. At the age of 21 years old Logan was provided with immediate opportunities to perform, tour, and record professionally with masters such as <strong>Joe Chambers<\/strong>, <strong>Butch Morris<\/strong>, <strong>Stefon Harris<\/strong>, <strong>Ambrose Akinmusire<\/strong>, <strong>Greg Tardy<\/strong>, <strong>Nasheet Waits<\/strong>, <strong>Michelle Rosewoman<\/strong>, <strong>Billy Hart<\/strong>, and <strong>Jason Moran<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In 2006 Logan released his debut album, <strong>Cerebral Flow<\/strong>, and in 2009 he followed up with his <strong>sophomore<\/strong> album, Ethos. In 2011 Logan moved from New York, to Paris where he has continued to build a wide spread international acclaim for his angular, shape painting, intervallic approach to playing the alto saxophone. Logan has been received favorably for his uniquely identifiable sound on the alto horn, in addition to his compositional fortitude in which he displays at a great depth as an urban sound designer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In 2012 Logan collaborated with <strong>Concord Records<\/strong>, and soon after released the project, <strong>NEXT Collective<\/strong>, in addition to being the alto voice in this formation, Logan was also an arranger, and co-producer for the project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Logan has recently recorded his highly anticipated third album, <strong>SHIFT<\/strong>, with an elegantly matched band of artists, innovators, and including 20 time grammy winning guitarist, <strong>Pat Metheny<\/strong>; MacArthur genius grant recipient, and Artistic Director of Jazz at Kennedy Center, pianist, <strong>Jason Moran<\/strong>; the greatest living drummer, and son of master Freddie Waits, drummer <strong>Nasheet Waits<\/strong>; bassist of Ambrose Akinmusire&#8217;s band, and innovator of the double bass, bassist <strong>Harish Raghavan<\/strong>;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Logan Richardson, born in Kansas City, trained under jazz legends like Jay McShann and Max Roach before studying at Berklee and The New School.
