Contemporary Music WorkshopsThe ASMM Program
Presentation
The Contemporary Music Workshops are group classes bringing together various instruments to form real bands: guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals, and more.
Each workshop offers musical progression tailored to the participants’ level, with a teaching approach developed by the school. Each group, led by an experienced teacher, works toward a common goal: to perform two concerts during the year, while also achieving each musician’s individual goals.
Program highlights:
- Accompaniment work: exploring the role of each instrument in a contemporary music band.
- Improvisation and solo techniques: learning to develop melodic lines suited to the chosen styles.
- Creation and exploration of a varied repertoire, from contemporary music classics to modern tracks. Students will be encouraged to suggest songs for the course repertoire.
- Preparation of a live performance set, with a focus on interpretation and group dynamics. Understanding expectations and how to make this type of repertoire “sound right.”
Concerts
Each year, the ensembles perform in the school’s concerts (late January and mid-June).
Jam-sessions
Students are encouraged to regularly participate in the many jam sessions organized by the school, allowing teachers to closely monitor and support their development.
